There are some wild misconceptions out there about what a chiropractic adjustment actually is, so I'm here today to set the record straight and let you know exactly what it is and what it isn't.
Chiropractic adjustments are specific adjustments performed to the spine by a licensed doctor of chiropractic.
We use our hands, or we can use an adjusting tool.
We use those adjustments to make changes to your body so that the nervous system can function more properly.
Lots of people think that we're spine doctors, but we're actually using the bones of the spine to help influence the nervous system.
We want the brain to be able to communicate with the entire body, and if there is a misalignment somewhere in the bones of the spine that protect those vital nerves, then the communication from the brain to, say, your stomach or your liver or your kidneys or even your big toe doesn't get there properly.
We find that misalignment, and we gently use a little bit of pressure or an adjustment tool to make a change to the spine to restore that communication from the brain to that body part so that your body can function and heal like it was designed to.
